Building the first Billingsgate Bass Boat
I started building the first Billingsgate Bass Boat in September, 2007, and finished it in April 2008. Materials used include Meranti and Okoume marine plywood, with Sapele Marine ply used for the transom and windshield framing, Spanish
Cedar side decks, Locust framing and dash, bronze fastenings, MAS epoxy, 6 oz. fiberglass cloth on the bottom, Pettit paint, Crabcoat clear finish, and stainless steel hardware.
Beam - 7' 1/2", plus rub rails
Power - 50 HP Evinrude E-tec
Top speed - 30 knots
Weight of boat, motor, gear,fuel and trailer - 1740 lbs.
Finished hull weight- no motor-1040 lbs.
Options included forward cuddy with windows, windshield and hand- operated wiper,custom seats, removable stern thwart, locust dash.
